New Discussion: Everything is Better with Zombies!!

I recently came across an article that put together some famous movie posters as they might be if they had zombies in them.  And being the zombie fan I am I started thinking about the timeless fact that ZOMBIES MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER.  One thing led to another and I thought this would make a great discussion.  So here it is:  What Hollywood flicks do you think would be 1,000 times better if only they had zombies in them?  I though of a few (of course).

1.  CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977).  Don’t get me wrong; this is a pretty solid and entertaining flick on its own.  But let’s face it, it gets pretty “talky” around the middle.  Now just imagine that those smaller alien crafts accidentally unleashed a zombie plague as they were flying around the town.  That could really spice things up … and I’d love to see the sculpture Roy Neary makes out of mashed potatoes!!

2.  BLADE RUNNER (1982).  Again; this is a killer flick on it’s own but just imagine Rick Deckard chasing around and terminating fast-moving, intelligent zombies.  Of COURSE it’d be better!!

3.  THE TWO JAKES (1990).  Yup, you read that right.  The flick starring Jack Nicholson that’s the sequel to the classic CHINATOWN.  I enjoyed this movie a lot, but just imagine that in the beginning Jake Berman kills his business partner because he was a zombie.  That would take this flick in a whole different, and crazy, direction.  And just imagine Nicholson’s character Jake Gittes unravelling the zombie plot while he kicks some ass in the only way Nicholson knows how!!

So those are my 3 picks off the top of my head for good flicks that could be better if only they had zombies in them.  So what are your choices??  Now enjoy the below posters; you can find them over at Hollywood is Dead:

I’m telling your right now, every freaking romantic comedy has a zombie in it–it’s the dudes. :-)
p.s. Great post! You are too fucking funny!

You have to watch Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror XVII .This episode rocks. If you are into zombies you like it;)

  3. Deggsy says:

Silence of the Lambs. As the zombie outbreak spreads, Clarisse Starling releases Hannibal Lecter, the only man she knows with the brains and the appetite to match the zombies. He’d be the ultimate anti hero of the Undead Apocalypse.

    • Fucking LOVE it Deggsy!!! What a great idea of having a human cannibal hunting down, killing, and eating zombies!!! If someone could pull that story off successfully it’d be the best zombie story ever!!

Ha Gnaws I like that :)

Have you check out James Farr’s Xombie series? There are zombie sharks in that. Really is there anything more terrorfing than a zombie shark? A super zombie shark that flys and walks on land maybe…

My films that Zombie’s would improve hmm… Well I gotta say Spice World becuase just about anything would improve that drivel. The songs would be better to sing along to as well. “If you wana eat my lover you gotta get out my grave, eatting brains forever the hunger never ends!” Now that would be some shit pop music I’d listen to.

Maybe Aliens as well. Imagine if hundreds of zombies rushed a small group of Aliens. Ok most of them would get ripped apart but if just one zombie managed to break the super hard skin of a zombie and then that Alien started infecting other Aliens… Oh Newt there you were thinking monsters weren’t real. Sucks to be you I guess!

    • LOL … I love the Aliens with zombies idea!! An alien-zombie hybrid could really revive that franchise!!! Ya know I never saw SPICE WORLD (maybe that’s not really that surprising). But I’d love to see the spice girls get their faces chewed off. I hope zombies can digest silicon and botox.

I haven’t gotten around to reading the Xombie series. Its on my radar!!

  5. Love this article!!! Really really cool! The Star Wars one made me smile… :-)

  6. Deggsy says:

Or on a more tasteless note, how about The Diary of Anne Frank, where the family keeps Anne locked up because she has the virus, but when the Nazis come, they unleash her on them?

    I’ll get my coat…

    • Deggsy ….. there’s a reason I look forward to your comments and why I love your ideas and mind so much ….. because of comments like THIS ONE!!! That’s a brilliant, offensive, and daring idea …. Anne Frank as a zombie who takes down the Nazis!!! I absolutely LOVE IT!!

    1. “Steel Magnolia’s” zombie style – Sally Field as a zombie goes berzerk after Julia Robert’s “Shelby”‘s death’….doesn’t get better than that and fitting for that flick. Watch out girls cause M’Lynn is goin’ zombie cannibal
    2. “Mickey Blue Eyes” zombie style can you imagine the Vitale”Family” of mafioso zombies…hilarious
    3. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” – The Portokolas family as zombies torment John Corbett’s “Ian Miller”
    4. “Robo Cop” – all kills in the movie are zombies
    5. “Escape from New York” – Snake Plissken as a zombie killer, kick ass!

    • Great list Bill and I must say just thinking about Snake Plissken as a zombie-killing badass sonofabitch makes my nipples hard!!! Is there a more perfect zombie killer around? Come on Hollywood; take a chance …. the perfect cross-over flick is staring you in the face!!

      • l3pr3chaun says:

Dude, any iconic action hero flick goin’ zombie would be a + and any chick flick / romantic comedy goin’ zombie would also be wonderfully gruesome and hilarious.

      • Agreed Bill!! But just the thought of Snake Plissken kicking zombie ass gets me as giddy as a school girl going to her 1st prom.
