New Horror Film Updates: J.A. Steel’s Blood Fare Trailer; More Goodies From Hobo With A Shotgun; and More Fun From Troll Hunter

Well I’ve been waiting for this one for a while folks.  Last summer I watched indie horror director J.A. Steel’s DENIZEN (see my review here) and immediately fell in love with Steel’s acting, storytelling, and her entire guerilla-style approach to filmmaking.  Now she’s back with BLOOD FARE and after seeing the trailer I can’t wait!!  Here’s the plot synopsis from the press release:

BLOOD FARE is a Civil War ghost story with a modern twist, by J.A. Steel and Co-Producer Christian K. Koch. It is the tale of Corporal Henry Trout (S. Edward Meek- “Wild Stallion”), who in 1861 fought valiantly in a forgotten skirmish after the firstbattle of Bull Run. 150 years later, he will come face to face with his descendants as the battle for blood continues on a haunted battlefield. Tyler (Brandi Lynn Anderson from the upcoming Syfy original series ZEROS) and her brother Chad (Adrian West), Henry’s fifth generation grandchildren, will challenge the very legend of Charon the Ferryman, as the lines between the living and the dead become blurred.

Gil Gerard, internationally recognized for his lead role as Captain William ‘Buck’ Rogers in the science fiction movie and television series BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY, plays the character of Professor Meade, mentor to the protagonist Tyler, in BLOOD FARE. Gerard was recently seen in the Syfy original movie GHOST TOWN, and will star with his cast mate Erin Gray, in the upcoming television movie BUCK ROGERS BEGINS.

Chris Hanson, one of the most recognized special makeup effects artists of Hollywood, joined the crew of BLOOD FARE as Special Makeup Effects Supervisor. He demonstrated his unique creativity in HELLBOY, UNDERWORLD, MEN IN BLACK, MEN IN BLACK 2, THE GREEN MILE, “THE X-FILES, THE FACULTY, SPAWN and many other productions.

Steel began stock footage filming in mid-August with the dedicated members of the Utah Civil War Association, a re-enactment group including Meek. Utah Civil War Association member Amanda Bowman Jones will be composing the soundtrack, along with Rob Lambros of The Street band, who provided the soundtrack to Steel’s third feature DENIZEN, winner of the Park City Music Film Festival Bronze Medal for Excellence. Steel rounds out her crew with Director of Photography Michael B. Call (“127 Hours”) and Executive Producer Jessica M. Bair.

I’m really looking forward to this one and just love Steel’s style.  Her films have a fast pace, lots of action (she’s also a stunt coordinator, martial arts expert, and accomplished underwater diver), lots of blood, and are just a blast.  Steel also sent along some exclusive pics for all of us to enjoy.  So enjoy the pics and the trailer and I’ll definitely let you know when there’s a release date.

I'm sure there's gonna be more blood than this spilled!!

Just a few of the beauties starring in BLOOD FARE.

What's hotter than a sexy girl who can kick ass??

HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN LOBBY CARDS, ONE-SHEET, AND TRAILER:

Ok; so the upcoming HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN may not have as good a title as DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, but its a really close second!!  But HOBO has Rutger Hauer!!  In case you don’t know, HOBO started off as a phony trailer back in 2007 for a GRINDHOUSE trailer competition.  After the trailer became a huge hit director Jason Eisner decided to turn it into a feature length film starring Hauer as the gun totting Hobo.  Now we finally get to check out all these goodies.  I’m including the unrated trailer in case you haven’t seen it yet and then you can check out all the lobby cards (the one-sheet is to the left).  Enjoy!!

MORE FROM TROLL HUNTER:

TROLL HUNTER is one film I’ve been looking forward to for over a month now.  In case you missed my original story on it, here’s the description:

Shot in a vérité style, TROLL HUNTER is the story of a group of Norwegian film students that set out to capture real-life trolls on camera after learning their existence has been covered up for years by a government conspiracy. A thrilling and wildly entertaining film, Hunter is said to deliver truly fantastic images of giant trolls wreaking havoc on the countryside, with darkly funny adherence to the original Norwegian folklore.

Yeah … sounds awesome doesn’t it!!  Well enjoy the official trailer and then a special clip that reveals the monster!!  I’ll keep us updated on this one for sure.

Stay Bloody!!!
