Remake of the Classic, Silent Night, Deadly Night, is Coming our Way
Whoever thought we’d never see a remake of the classic 1984 slasher, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, raise your hand. I’m gonna assume that no one is sitting there with their hand in the air. Hell; I’m shocked we haven’t seen a remake yet!! But according to Variety, The Genre Company and Inferno’s Ember Prods. are financing the film, SILENT NIGHT, which is being touted as a “loose remake of TriStar’s 1984 film, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.” To me this means that none of the elements that made to original film so much fun and so controversial will be present in the ‘loose remake.’
Anchor Bay has picked up the North American distribution rights to SILENT NIGHT, which is supposed to begin principle photography next month and will be ready to be stuffed in stockings this X-Mas holiday. Steven C. Miller (AUTOMATON TRANSFUSION) is set to direct and Malcolm McDowell is set to star. The plot? Glad you asked:
[The] story follows a local police department’s search for the killer Santa Claus terrorizing a remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. McDowell will play Sheriff Cooper, a small-town hero ready for some big-time action.
Is it just me, or does this sound like the exact the same plot as HALLOWEEN? Same plot, different holiday I guess!!
I’ll keep on this one … I’m interested in seeing how this one develops. Are you looking forward to this remake?
Stay Bloody!!!

Malcolm’s gonna think he’s in his own Groundhog Day…
Hhmmm; I think you’re on to something here, Deggsy. A horror version of GROUNDHOG DAY!!
