DON’T GO IN THE WOODS (2010):
Actor Vincent D’Onofrio (“Full Metal Jacket”) makes his feature directing debut with this “slasher musical” (unrelated to the 1980 film of the same name) mixing shocks and songs with the story of a rocker (Matt Sbeglia) who leads his bandmates into the woods for a jam session. They soon discover that not only have their party-hardy girlfriends followed them there, but a masked maniac also lies in wait–and he’s no fan! With Soomin Lee, Bo Boddie, and Eric Bogosian. 83 min. FATHER’S DAY (2011; my review):
Exploding the boundaries of bad taste, this grotesque horror comedy from Troma follows a one-eyed vigilante out to kill a serial rapist with a thing for sexually violating fathers. Questing for this depraved monster’s death for years and jailed for executing a man he mistook for his target, the vengeance-crazed avenger’s goal seems within reach after he is released and the trail is marked afresh with new victims.
