Free Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Giveaway!!

abelincoln banner

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty excited about the box office action this Spring-Summer so far.  THE AVENGERS has been dominating (deservedly so) and  even PROMETHEUS is kicking ass despite it’s R-rating.  Bust best of all those two tools Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler’s films are bombing!!  I’ve never understood the appeal of Cruise … he plays the exact same character in every film.  And I’ve honestly never once laughed at anything Sandler ever did.  Never.  That baby-retarded voice he does is so goddamn unfunny and annoying that I’d like to punch him in the throat.  Okay … now that I have that off my chest, what the hell is this posting about?  Oh yeah; a giveaway for the upcoming ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER!!  This is another R-rated summer genre flick and I think this one has an uphill battle.  From what I’ve been reading about it and from the trailers, the film looks friggin’ great!!  No sparkly vampires here!!  ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER hits theaters this Friday, June 22, 2012 and I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun.  The film stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, and Dominic Cooper and is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, no stranger to directing films steeped in dark material.  The film is of course based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name (Grahame-Smith also wrote the screenplay).  Here’s a little about the film:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter  (Rated R) – Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov reinvent the time-honored genre and present the terrifying creatures of the night as they were meant to be experienced — as fierce, visceral, intense and bloodthirsty. ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER brings to the screen the secret life of our nation’s favorite president . . . as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.

The film stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Erin Wasson and is based off of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name.

I haven’t read Grahame-Smith’s novel that the film is based on, but I’ve read a few of his other novels and the man knows how to make a “mash-up.”  Now in connection with the film hitting theaters this Friday (June 22, 2012), I have a copy of the Director’s Cut: The Art of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter book to giveaway to one of you lucky readers.  I don’t have a copy myself, but looking at the images of it online, its a beautiful collector’s item to have.
To Enter the Contest:
You really don’t need to do much.  The contest is being held from today (Monday, June 18, 2012) until next Monday, June 25, 2012.  At the end of this posting just leave me a comment telling me you wish to enter the contest and then tell me what you’d love to see in a future “mash-up.”  Hopefully by now you know what the “mash-up” sub-genre is.  This is when two seemingly opposite or very different genres and “mashed-up” into one novel.  Like Grahame-Smith’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES mashes up the Victorian-era classic novel with the zombie genre.  What “mash-up” would you like to see (and please make it one that hasn’t been done before).  Since I’m familiar with a lot of my readers, my wife will choose the most interesting and creative sounding mash-up.  The winner will be announced next Tuesday, June 26, 2012.  Giveaway is open only to US/Canada residents 18 & over.  Check out the teaser trailer for the book:
Also be sure to follow ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER to keep up on all the new movie stills (both domestic and international) and trailers.  Follow them on Twitter and ‘like’ them on their Facebook and YouTube pages.  You can also download the ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER game for free from the App Store.  It’s pretty damn fun!!  And of course, stay close by to Anything Horror because if there’s any breaking news on ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, you’ll hear it from me fast!!
Stay Bloody!!!

  1. Awesome contest! And I definitely recommend the novel, I’m reading it right now and it’s totally brilliant.

My mash-up idea: Wuthering Heights and Werewolves. I always thought there was something lycanthropic about Heathcliff, from his looks to his behavior. ;-)

    Thanks, Scott!

P.S. How many times can we enter?

  2. I’d like to enter! I’m imagining “On the Road” as told in a more “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” mashup.

    • You are officially in the contest, Jeremy!!

I’m a huge fan of The Beat Movement & ON THE ROAD is one of my favorite novels … adding a Jeckyl & Hyde story to it sounds fantastic!!

“The Catcher in the Rye” with a Teen vampire as the main charcter…..Kinda a cross between TCITR w/ Let The Right one In

  4. Noel L. cox says:

my favorite mash-up would be HEROES meets ALIENS. or RuPaul’s drag Race meets 6 days later.

  5. Noel L. cox says:

Noah’s Arc meets Friday the 13th.

  6. Chaz Walter says:

An awesome mash-up would be ‘Benjamin Franklin; or the American Prometheus’, in which the famous patriot and inventor uses his ‘kite in a thunderstorm’ trick to reanimate dead tissue. Ben Franklin would take the place of Dr. Frankenstein.
