First Look at the Prison Setting in The Walking Dead’s 3rd Season
The one thing I was really disappointed with about the second season of THE WALKING DEAD was the lack of the prison setting. For those of us who’ve read the comic book, we all know how big a role the prison has played in both the storyline and in the character development. I’ve mentioned before that I wasn’t overly stoked by the direction season two took, but it looks as though season three is gonna kick some major ass!! Just seeing what they do with the Governor character alone has me on the edge of me seat already. Entertainment Weekly online posted the first pics of the prison setting … with zombies … and it looks pretty damn awesome!!
But even though the prison plays a big role in THE WALKING DEAD comic book, showrunner Glen Mazzara wants to make sure you know this isn’t necessarily the same prison. This is a dangerous lockup, so we can expect some surprises:
“I’m incredibly proud of the prison. I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”
