Look Who Wants to Star in Scott’s Blade Runner 2 … F**k Me!!
Now that I have quite a few years on this earth, there’s a few patterns i’ve observed over and over again to the point where they become Truths. Most chefs wanna be rock stars; all pop and rock stars wanna be actors/actresses; actors/actresses wanna be politicians; and every douchebag who wins a Grammy needs to thank god for their achievements. Take the case of this pop star who wants to star in Ridley Scott’s upcoming BLADE RUNNER 2.
While promoting her 3D concert film, KATY PERRY: PART OF ME, the singer revealed her love for Scott’s BLADE RUNNER. Then when Perry was asked about her dream acting gig, she declared that she wants to star in the sequel. Here’s what she had to say in an interview with nextmovie.com:
“I guess, if there was going to be a Blade Runner 2, that I would maybe want to be Rachael. But I know that is saying too much. But that’s a dream, and I have lots of ‘em.”
If you haven’t seen the 1982 Ridley Scott-directed classic, then shame on you!! But Sean Young played the original Rachael, a replicant (or genetically engineered organic robot) who believes herself to be human. Now the few things I’ve seen Perry act in I must admit that she does indeed act very robotic, but I don’t think this is what Scott is gonna be looking for. This could get very interesting once the casting begins!!

I think it’s safe to say that there’s no way in hell this’ll happen!!
It’s things like this which make me worry…. and it’s already a very worrisome situation. No, just no.
I’m down with a follow up to BLADE RUNNER, Buzz, but if they even start considering people like Perry (which they aren’t) then like you said: “no, just no.”
At least Perry’s smart enough to know that such a thing would be too much to ask (and kudoes to her at least for having good taste; how many celebs her age have even heard of BLADE RUNNER?).
They’ll probably give her a cameo as a ditzy receptionist or something. Who could replay Rachel? Good question…
Very good point that its impressive she’s even aware that BLADE RUNNER exists. But there’s always the possibility that her agent is feeding her this info & telling her “this part is made for you!!” lol
