Edward Furlong & Christian Slater Explore Their Dark Sides in, The Awakened
I think we need to explore some of the more classic Universal and Hammer creatures and horror creations and give them updates. Vampires and zombies are becoming a little ho-hum and unless we get someone who can give us something new in these genres I really think horror needs some new updated classics. A good place to start would be the classic story of DOCTOR JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, and what a coincidence … that’s exactly what we’re getting. At the end of the day the classic story of a mild-mannered doctor who becomes a monster is simply the story of a human being exploring their dark side. This is a very rich field to exploit!!
Lucky for us director Arno Malarone also sees the potential with this story, and he’s planning on putting a modern twist on it in THE AWAKENED. THE AWAKENED is written by Joycelyn Engle and Christopher M. Capwell and stars Edward Furlong, Christian Slater, Julianne Michelle, Steven Bauer, and Corey Sevier. No official plot crunch as of yet. but the film follows a young woman who returns to her home town after 14 years to find her mother’s killer. Production will begin September 10, 2012 in The Hamptons, New York.
