Melton & Dunstan are Tapped to Rewrite God of War Script
Oh yeah!! Two of my favorite screenwriters in the genre, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, have recently been tapped by Universal to rewrite the script to the upcoming film version of the hugely popular GOD OF WAR video game. By buddy Brian swears by this game and loves every second of it (he damn near gave himself a seizure playing the damn game all the time). Melton and Dunstan are the very twisted minds that brought us four SAW films (4-7); the FEAST trilogy; THE COLLECTOR and it’s sequel, the upcoming THE COLLECTION; PIRANHA 3DD; and worked on PACIFIC RIM with del Toro. These guys are bat-shit crazy, love the horror genre, and know how to deliver a great flick!!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has tapped these scribes to rewrite the GOD OF WAR script. Not familiar with GOD OF WAR, check out this plot crunch:
Created by David Jaffe and Shannon Studstill and released in March 2005, the game followed the battles of the Spartan warrior Kratos, who squares off against mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra in his quest to find Pandora’s Box and destroy Ares, the god of war.
By the end of the third game, much of the Greek pantheon lay dead at Kratos’ feet. GOD OF WAR became known for its graphics and imaginative environments, its often copied gameplay, and its doses of sex and extreme violence. This sounds like the perfect vehicle for Melton and Dunstan!!
Stay Bloody!!!
