Re-Animator Gets Blu-rayed This September!!
This is the kind of shit I love to report about!! One of the genre’s all time best films, RE-ANIMATORis getting a Blu-ray facelift this September from Image Entertainment. Once you see this gory 1985 masterpiece you’ll never look at horror films in the same way. Director Stuart Gordon makes it seem all so easy: he has a banging script, great actors, and enough practical gore to fill 10 modern day films!! Plus this is the film that launched Jeffrey Combs to “horror icon” status and catapulted me into puberty (thank you, Barbara Crampton)!!
Herbert West (Combs) is obsessed with the idea of bringing the dead back to life. Experimenting with a glowing green fluid, he successfully reanimates dead tissue. Unfortunately, the dead are uncontrollable and difficult to subdue. Dr. Carl Hill, West’s instructor, is determined to steal his secret and take all the credit for the discovery. Herbert isn’t willing to give it up so easily. No matter what the consequences are! Stylishly directed by Stuart Gordon (From Beyond), this film adaptation of the short story “Herbert West: Reanimator” is a non-stop gore fest filled with wit and humor.
The Blu-ray is set to drop on September 4, 2012, but Image Entertainment hasn’t released any information about the extras, though they do promise that it will be
“packed with bonus features (existing from earlier DVD releases), including audio commentaries from the film’s director, producer and cast, interviews, extended scenes, galleries, and more.”
The suggested retail price is $17.97, but right now you can pre-order it on Amazon for $12.58. Could these prices be any more odd?? Whatever!! I don’t even have a Blu-ray player (I know, I know) but I’m still pre-ordering my copy. That’s a pretty damn good price for a Blu-ray!!
