Jackie Earle Haley Signs on to Train RoboCop
The cast keeps getting better and better with the ROBOCOP remake. I absolutely love the original ROBOCOP, but it suffers from a really bad case of “stuck in the 80′s-itis.” I watched the original not too long ago and while it’s still fun as hell, it has a very dated feel to it. I think it’s a great candidate for an update. Think about the technology that was available in the late-80′s … it could reallyuse an update!! The remake is directed by José Padilha, written by Nick Schenk, James Vanderbilt, and Joshua Zetumer, and stars Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Joel Kinnaman, and now Freddy Krueger himself, Jackie Earle Haley. Haley will be playing the character, Maddox, the guy that gives military training to RoboCop. Gary Oldman is the scientist-creator of RoboCop; Samuel L. Jackson is Pat Novak, a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the ROBOCOP world; and Hugh Laurie is the evil and ultra-rich CEO of OmniCorp. Check out the plot crunch:
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.
Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.
He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
José Padilha (Elite Squad) directs this reimagining of the tale of part man, part machine, all cop.
The ROBOCOP remake is currently slated to drop on August 9th, 2013.
Looking forward to this one?
Stay Bloody!!!
