What do The Simpson’s Have in Store for us this Year at Halloween??
I don’t know about you, but there aren’t too many more eagerly anticipated Halloween traditions in my household than the new TREEHOUSE OF HORROR episode from THE SIMPSON’S (I think this year will be either #23 or 24). These episodes often spoof the current popular horror sub-genre of the day and have a fun time doing it. Well it looks as though this year’s episode will be no different.
This year’s installment will air on Sunday, October 7, 2012, and recently executive producer Al Jean dove into the details with TVLine:
First up, The Simpsons’ Marty McFly act. “Bart goes back and prevents Marge and Homer from ever getting married, and we see what happens next,” says the showrunner. (For what it’s worth, Jon Lovitz – who voices Marge’s high school paramour Artie Ziff, among other characters – is involved.) Another segment is “a found-footage parody” – in the vein of Paranormal Activity – “where something really strange is going on in the Simpson house,” he adds. Also on tap: “We have a segment where a mini black hole terrorizes Springfield and starts sucking everything in, and it’s to tie into the discovery this summer of the Higgs boson,” he says, referring to the so-called “God particle.” (Attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a sneak peek of this part of the ep.) Finally, Jean adds, “We also deal a little with the Mayan prophecy of the world ending this year.”
Hell yeah!! I’ve been waiting for a spoof on PARANORMAL ACTIVITY!! I hope even after THE SIMPSON’S stops making episodes that they continue on with the Halloween eps … traditions are traditions after all!! And what’s better than the newest episode? The marathons of all the previous TREEHOUSE OF HORRORS episodes that’s usually aired before the new one. Like I said … Hell Yeah!!
