You’re Next finds Distribution & Sets an August 2013 Release Date

YOU’RE NEXT has been a festival hit since last year, but it’s distribution has been stuck in limbo hell for a while. Until now, that is. According to SlashFilm.com, YOU’RE NEXT has been picked up and has an August 2013 release date. The film played at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and was labeled a film that had the “potential to change the genre.” After a heated bidding war, Lionsgate acquired the film and then proceeded to shut it down (it played just one additional festival screening at Fantastic Fest 2011). Rumor had it that it’d be released in October 2012 which obviously isn’t happening. Director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett have since moved on to other projects and had no idea what was gonna happen with YOU’RE NEXT.
Lionsgate has finally decided to release the film, but before you start cheering for this home invasion flick be aware that the release date is August 23, 2013. Yeah, I know … it’s like a year away. But even though there’s a wait at least we know there’s an actual end in sight!! The film stars Sharni Vinson, Ti West and Barbara Crampton. I’ve heard great things about this film and have heard that Barbara Crampton is fantastic in it and that this film could be her return to the genre she helped define in the 1980s!! Check out the very brief plot crunch:
A family has a reunion at their house in the woods only to be terrorized by a mysterious group of men in animal masks. All hell breaks loose.
I hope this offers a new take on the home invasion film. I must admit that this isn’t my favorite sub-genre, but I’m definitely looking forward to this one. Are you?
Stay Bloody!!!
