Are You Ready to Relive The Shining … in Documentary Form??
The new horror documentary on Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING, titled ROOM 237, has released the official quad and one-sheet. This is an experimental documentary from Rodney Ascher and isn’t the typical “behind-the-scenes” and “making-of” documentary that you might be expecting. Check out the plot crunch:
A subjective documentary that explores the numerous theories about the hidden meanings within Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining. The film may be over 30 years old but it continues to inspire debate, speculation, and mystery. Five very different points of view are illuminated through voice over, film clips, animation and dramatic reenactments. Together they’ll draw the audience into a new maze, one with endless detours and dead ends, many ways in, but no way out.
Sounds pretty cool, eh!! THE SHINING is one of my all time favorite films (not just ‘genre’ film … film) and I’m really looking forward to seeing Ascher’s theories about this film. IFC Films has picked up ROOM 237 and will roll it out later this year with both a theatrical and VOD release. Here’s what EmpireOnline.com has to say about ROOM 237:
Room 237, on the secrets behind Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, is one of those occasional documentaries that comes along and blows everyone away … Room 237, for those yet to investigate it, is Rodney Ascher’s look at several very close analyses of Stanley Kubrick’s film by those who have studied it in great detail and come to some quite startling conclusions about it. It’s going to be fascinating for fans of the 1980 film, but also for those who know it less well (those who haven’t seen it a) should and b) should beware spoilers).
This sounds really good!! ROOM 237 is set for an October 26, 2012 release. Be sure to check out ROOM 237′s official website and Twitter feed.
Stay Bloody!!!
