Season 3 Premier of The Walking Dead Hits Huge Numbers!!
The dead may want brains and warm human flesh, but the people who watch the living dead have proven themselves to be just as voracious in their appetites!! According the The Wrap, the third season return of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD attracted a legion of fans … 10.9 million viewers to be exact!! This officially makes the third season premier the most-watched basic cable drama telecast ever. Ever!! And it’s a zombie show. Fucking amazing!!
The episode, which found a band of survivors cleaning out a prison full of walkers, grew more than 50 percent over last season’s premiere, and scored an astonishing 7.3 million viewers in the key 18-49 demographic … Including the 10 p.m. and midnight encores for “Walking Dead,” it scored 15.2 million viewers.
Who’d of thought a few years ago that some small-time zombie comic book would be such a TV powerhouse!!

I was a little worried for Walking Dead there for a while. It attracted many viewers into ‘survivalist drama’ and the criticism were coming in about how gory the show could be and how could they have such violence against women/children. I was like…hold up! This is a HORROR SHOW for HORROR FANS that happens to appeal to you drama types: If you want antiseptic drama, go watch that JJ Abrams thing about the power going out, but don’t you be trying to change my dystopic-Zombie genre!
I’m glad to see this opener walking the line between good drama and great gore.
Well put, Gynocrat!! I admit that I started losing interest in the last season but if this entire season is as kick ass as the premier … I’m in!!
On that note: Tonight should be good because Supernatural (yes, I like this show) and the new Amderican Horror Story, are on back to back.
I watched thievery 1st ep of SUPERNATURAL & was bored. I hated it. Wish I stick with it … I hear it kicks ass!!
That first season was slow for some folks–but I was Night Stalker kid and stuck with Supes. The fandom is batshit crazy, but you can’t pick your viewers. ^_- I’ve been told to give Grimm a chance…
My wife watches GRIMM & I hear it on in the background. There’s been some interesting eps, but it doesn’t seem to grab me to be a regular viewer.
If the rest of the season is as suspenseful and action packed as the first one, it’s going to be a heck of a season!

Just finished watching the third season finale. That was absorbingly freaking awesome!!! In fact the whole season was awesome. Whilst the second second may have been too light on the action in favor of character development (I still liked it), I don’t think that anyone could say that third season wasn’t chocked full loads of kick-ass action with lots of great character development to boot. Quite sad as I liked Andrea, but what a hell of an episode to go out in. Looking forward to season 4
Glad you enjoyed this past season so much, Buzz!! I freely admit that TWD has lost steam for me. I started losing interest in it half way through season 2 & I just can’t get back into it.
I was also disappointed with the character of The Governor.
