Paranormal Activity 5 is Happening … as Well as a Latino Spin-Off!!

That didn’t take too long, but Paramount has confirmed that they will continue the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise with a part 5 that will come out around Halloween 2013. This was inevitable being that part four took in $30 million it’s opening weekend on a $5 million budget (the three previous PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films have earned over $576 million worldwide on a combined budget of a little over $8 million!!). But there was a bit of a surprise announcement as well. According to deadline.com:
the studio is plotting an as-yet-untitled spinoff tentatively set for Spring 2013 and aimed atPA‘s very sizeable Latino audience … screenwriter and director Christopher Landon, who spec-scripted 2007′s big hit Disturbia and is the son of Hollywood legend Michael Landon, is helming … The spinoff will include the demon from thePA franchise and star mostly Latino actors and film partly in Spanish. ”This will be an off-shoot aimed at the groups who have been the biggest supporters of the property – Latinos and folks in Latin America – Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina,” a Paramount insider tells me.
Does this mean we’re now gonna have TWO underwhelming franchises out there around Halloween every year? Stay tuned for more info as it comes in.

Seriously a part 5? I didn’t even realize there were this many, the first one and second both sucked. Can’t people be more original now adays, and come up with new shit?
I thought the first PARANORMAL ACTIVITY was really well done. It was fresh and the scares were genuine. Since then every follow up has been the exact same movie over again …. with practically the same fucking cast!! Enough already.
