Is Creature From the Black Lagoon Coming Back as a Remake?
I think wo all know the answer to this question!! CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON remake has been in development hell for quite some time, but THR is now reporting that a writer may have been found. According to THR, Dave Kajganich, who wrote the Nichole Kidman mess of a flick, THE INVASION and is currently working on remakes of Stephen King’s IT, THE STAND, and PET CEMETARY, has been hired by Universal to write the script for CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.

The 1954 movie centered on a prehistoric water-breathing humanoid monster that lived in a remote Amazonian river and a group of scientists that want to study him.
The studio has been trying to remake the title since the early 1980s and Kajganich is starting from scratch.
Seriously? SInce the 1980s?? The early 1980s??? The way Hollywood cranks out most of the remakes this is really hard to believe that no one could write a decent remake of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.

Nowadays they’re more sanguine about remakes and reboots, but not as much back in the 80s, I don’t think – THE BLOB and INVADERS FROM MARS were the biggest remakes in that decade, and both didn’t do so well if I recall correctly. I’m also amazed at the big names attached to it over the decades: John Landis,John Carpenter, Peter Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, Ivan Reitman… but perhaps their own success kept the delay going, because they ended up being delayed doing other work…
THE BLOB takes a lot of shit but I really enjoyed it … hell … I love it. It’s pure camp and 80′s goodness!! Shawnee Smith? Kevin Dillon?? Hell yeah!!
Now the remake of INVADERS FROM MARS … not so much. It was just missing something; some element that kept it from being really fun.
