New Stills Drop for Terminator: Genisys

Terminator7I was excited when I heard THE TERMINATOR franchise was being rebooted. I was even more stoked when I learned that Alan Taylor, director of THOR: THE DARK WORLD, was at the helm. Then I read that the title of the new TERMINATOR film is TERMINATOR: GENISYS. What a shitty name. And then I saw the first trailer and was even more disappointed. The first trailer made the film look like a Michael Bay film – all action and no story. Let’s not forget that what made the original TERMINATOR so kick ass wasn’t just the action, but the story. But I’ll be checking my opinions until after seeing this.

In addition to Taylor directing, TERMINATOR: GENISYS is written by Laeta Kalorgridis and Patrick Lussier, and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia ClarkeJ.K. SimmonsJai Courtney, Courtney B. Vance, and Jason Clarke. Lussier wrote the DRACULA trilogy from the early 2000s and DRIVE ANGRY. There’s potential here, people!! Check out the plot crunch:

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…

Sounds like time travel will be a major plot point in this one. I’m liking that!! TERMINATOR: GENISYS is slated for a July 1, 2015 release date. Below are a bunch on newly released stills from and a couple behind the scenes pictures from Empire magazine. You can also check out the trailer if you haven’t yet seen it.
