Krokodil: The Story Continues

krokodil3876

Back in June 2011 I posted an article titled, “True Life Horrors: The Russian Drug Krokodil.” I had (and continue to have) such an overwhelming response to this posting that I was looking for a follow-up piece that further delved into this horrific, true-life drug that is doing more than just ruining the lives of it’s users … it’s rotting them from the inside out. Then earlier this week I was contacted by Juliette Eisner, a communications associate at VICE (a pretty kick ass site that covers a plethora of news items with both cutting humor and insight). Well Juliette contacted me about a four part documentary they did on the Russian drug Krokodil. This was perfect!! I was looking to run a more in-depth article about this lethal drug but I really didn’t have the time to do the necessary research on it. Then Juliette comes along and plops this amazing documentary into my lap. The documentary is called, “Krokodil Tears,” and it documents “the decimation of the population of Siberia by the new bastard form of Heroin, Krokodil.

If you want some quick background on this drug, click on the link about to my first article on Krokodil. Juliette has been kind enough to allow me to post all four parts of the “Krokodil Tears” documentary here. Watch them now or go over to the VICE website here to check them out. Either way you need to check out this documentary. Besides being a well-made docu, “Krokodil Tears” is a growing epidemic that threatens to become more widespread. This is a horrible drug that people need to be educated about. Instinct has me about to say, “Enjoy,” but there’s nothing enjoyable about the content of this documentary. But education is knowledge!!

First, here’s the press release for “Krokodil Tears”:

VICE PRESENTS, KROKODIL TEARS, A NEW GROUND-BREAKING SERIES DOCUMENTING THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC OF SIBERIA

The newest bastard form of heroin, Krokodil, is decimating the Siberian youth, and nowhere is it more present than in the town of Novokuznetsk

NEW YORK, N.Y. (October 31, 2011) – VICE today announces its new series, Krokodil Tears, documenting the effects of Heroin’s new moonshine form, Krokodil, that is currently butchering the health and lives of its Siberian addicts. VICE travels to Novokuznetsk, Siberia to talk to the kids that are living the horrific lives of Krokodil-junkies, and to check out the area’s DIY coffin builders, religious cults disguised as rehab centers, and the effects the cheap alternative, made of suplhur, iodine and codeine, that eats its users from the inside out.
